Some Things Just Have to Be Done

Andrew’s reflections from his transformative journey in the Amazon….

“The Master Teacher has arrived. A stern, implacable sensei. A Ninja Assassin. His katana is against my throat before I can blink, daring me to flinch. Should I do so... Flick! My head is on the floor. “So you think you are ready for me, do you? We shall see. We shall see.”

I am completely overcome with fear, as though being led to the gallows. Doubt seizes me, “Can I do this? Who do I think I am? No, certainly not. I can't. I can't.” And there on the mat, deep in medicine ceremony, doubled up in terror, a hand gently touches my back. “Some things just have to be done,” the voice says. I soften, my body physically unknotting itself. I remember to breathe. Acceptance comes.

“Okay. Let's Dance.”

Moment by moment, breath by exquisite breath Chiric Sanango, master plant teacher of the Amazon, guides me gently and unerringly into the deepest caverns of my physicality. Teaching me how to soften and uncoil around the agony and abandonment driven into my joints and connective tissue from a traumatic birth.

They say “physician, heal thyself.” And as much as I deeply love my practice as a bodyworker, at the core, it has always been about first creating my own body as a temple to the divine. Only then have I the qualifications to walk beside you in your own healing journey. And thanks to the intensive ministrations of Chiric Sanango, the poise and centeredness of a martial arts master flows through my work, unerringly guiding you to your own chasms of shadow and shame.

Is opening the Pandora's box of old trauma really, really scary? Is letting go of known pain for the promise of unknown freedom a huge act of faith? Is hope itself to much to hope for?

Yes, but Some Things Just Have To Be Done.

So come journey with me, session by session. Let this be the year you write a new story. Of Truth you literally Know in your Bones.”
